Convert Standard autocad Blocks to a Point File With Map 3D®
OK folks, here is the revised version of the first video. It is a little better quality. After some testing of the extracted point file I found that I couldn’t get the point file to work without first converting to a .csv format file via Microsoft Excel. According to my trainer this is due to the way Map writes the data in the file. I was also not able to get it to import when I add the block name or attribute data as a point description leaving me with only the y, x, and z (northing, easting, elevation). Be sure to check out my other tutorial showing the process of converting the points.txt to points.csv and then importing them into a Civil 3D® .dwg where they can be used to create a surface. (Alternatively you can just use the point file for your surface without importing.)
